1. Does this fit here? Not everything fits anywhere. Fact is, you need to pay attention to some details when buying hardware, in order for them to be able to work together.

2. System requirements? Every piece of software or game(even some hardware parts) have these so-called system requirements. What does that mean?
That means the producer of the respective thing, has checked what kind of system do you need in order to fully enjoy using the game/software/hardware it provides. Usually producers put a set of Minimum and Recommended system requirements. This is what Microsoft states as the required system in order to run Windows 8: If you want to run Windows 8 on your PC, here's what it takes: This does not mean that if you meet the minimum requirements, everything will run smooth. The minimum requirements sometimes are just that, minimum things...it works, but sluggish.
That does not mean that a computer running 512 Mb of RAM will not even install Windows 8. But it will not behave too good. As I said, in order to fully enjoy the capabilities of a piece of software, you want to meet the recommended system requirements. In Windows 8's case, these are: Additional requirements to use certain features: As you can read above, meeting just and just the minimum requirements in this case, keeps you away from some pretty nice features.
It's important to pay attention to the system requirements, so you know what to expect. Obviously if you don't meet the minimum system requirements for a game, you cannot expect for it to run smooth. Finding out if you meed the system requirements can be done by knowing your system. If you need a tool for this, you can always use a free program like HWinfo. There are also some useful web-sites that can help with determining if you can run a certain game/application like this one: I hope this part of Pc Basics was useful to you, and stay sharp for the next part! |
