Intro In this tutorial you will be shown how to create a simple metallic effect for your text. This tutorial should be easy to do, even if you just got your hands on Adobe's Photoshop.
Details:
Let's get right to it then! Step.1 Open Adobe Photoshop. Click File(top right corner) then select New, as we will create a new file.
A wild window has appeared! I am joking, this is the "new file/document window"; here you can give your new document a name, set it's dimensions(in pixels or inches etc). It's pretty much self explanatory, but I highlighted what we need to change here: the name(go creative!) and the dimensions: we will set the document to have 800pixels x 800 pixels. After this, we can click ok and the new document will be created for us.
Step. 2 Now that we've created a new document, we need to add another layer to it. We do this by navigating to Layer > New > Layer (or by pressing Shift+Ctrl+N on our keyboard). A new small windows appears, prompting us to select the name of the layer and some more settings; pick a name for the layer, and click the Ok button.(I left it default to "Layer 1" because I am not creative).
After successfully creating the new layer, we need to change it's blending mode to "Multiply". We do this by clicking the small drop-down menu(where it currently says "Normal"), and choose Multiply.
Step. 3 The third step is about creating a cool radial gradient composed of two colours: Black(000000) and a shade of grey(838383). Black will be the main color and the grey will be the secondary color. Check the pictures below for setting up the gradient, and then click the center of our image and drag to one corner, to create the gradient.

Step. 4 Now we must create the cool clouds. This nice effect will stand in the background of our text, making it look awesome.
First things first. We need another layer. Create a new layer(as explained in the previous steps), and give it a cheery name(of course, with my lack of creativity, I named this one: Layer 2). Now we need to move the newly created layer under the layer that contains our awesome gradient. This is done by clicking, holding and dragging the layer. After this, we navigate to Effects > Render > Clouds(click). Now admire the magnitude of that awesome effect. Step. 5 We now need to add the text. This is done by selecting the text tool, choosing where to write(by clicking on the image) and then writing something(I wrote Sinner - hey! that's me!)
Good. Now for the actual metallic effect part. We must right click the text layer, and select "Blending Options".
Now click "Bevel & Emboss" in the left menu, and make sure to set everything like in the picture below:
Congrats! You now have a nice metallic effect for your text, as well as learned some basic stuff in Photoshop!(or rehearsed if all this is simple for you)
Step. 6 So what now? Well you can use this effect anyway you like. Integrate it into one of your own designs, wallpapers or whatever you want. Below you have some variations obtained by playing with the final result.
